marlinEspike.com was published in 2002 and sprang from Tim's hobby of rope work, known as fancy marlinespike seamanship. After relocating to Maine in 2008, marlinEspike.com moved into a workshop studio/retail space, and opened with the name Marlinespike Chandlery. A "chandlery" is a sort of general store often found in seaport towns and thus the "Marlinespike Chandlery" is a store specializing in fancy marlinespike rope work, but the shop is filled with a variety of related artifacts, antiques and other interesting items. Sales are in person at the Marlinespike Chandlery, by direct inquiry using the contact information below, or through Etsy and social media. Because of the geography, cell service is irregular and the best way to initiate contact is by text or email. If you have a special project in mind, or are interested in having Tim present a workshop, feel free to contact Tim directly. |

The Chandlery is open year round but it is recommended texting for hours ahead of time if making a special trip. Typically open weekdays, Saturday and Sunday by chance or appointment. |
